PODIUM
MATERIALS AND CARE
Every our idea is always innovation and change.
These pages are dedicate to whom, besides looking for the correct solutions to the care and maintenance of the purchased products, wants also to know more about the materials used for realize our production.
We do it with pleasure, because this will mostly serve to understand what there is under every product .
As you can read therefore, our products are made all from high quality material.
And quality is absolute prerogative of every PODIUM product.
Quality is synonymous of safety, duration and comfort for horse and rider, reason of the excellence of our products.
NABUK:
(used for saddles, stirrup straps, girth straps and girth) The NABUK is a leather variety “full flower” with a suede surface that makes the light and velvety skin to the touch.
The leather “full flower” is qualitatively tanned by the better part of skin, superior quality.
The hair is only removed, without altering therefore the natural superficial wheat.
Besides preserving the plot and the original signs of the animal skin, the leather full flower offers an excellent resistance in the time thanks to the natural solidity of the fibers of the skin.
The Nabuk used for our production is 100% genuine Italian leather.
MAINTENANCE
the Nabuk tan is “in bath of oil”; this treatment makes the nabuk soft and waterproof.
It will be enough, after having cleaned the nabuk with a damp cloth, to use the specific wool glove PODIUM or a brush and oil for leather to make the nabuk preserves to the whole softness initial and hard in the time.
DON’T USE DETERGENTS THAT CONTAIN CHEMICAL AGENTS.
LEATHER:
It is only full grain leather and drummed calfskin, all vegetable tanned, a more traditional and sustainable process that produces high quality leather, strictly from Italian tanneries.
MAINTENANCE
As with Nubuck, leather also requires nothing more than periodic cleaning with a damp cloth and leather oil.
DO NOT USE DETERGENTS THAT CONTAIN CHEMICAL AGENTS.
The leather used for our production is 100% genuine Italian leather
MAINTENANCE
As for the Nabuk, the leather doesn’t also require anything else than a periodic cleaning with a damp cloth and oil for leather, using the specific PODIUM glove in pure wool.
DON’T USE DETERGENTS THAT CONTAIN CHEMICAL AGENTS.
AIRNET Or TT:
Used for saddle pads and the inside stuff for biothane. It is a three-dimensional fabric, highly breathable, abrasion and wear resistant, which guarantees good comfort and high non-deformability.
Thanks to its three-dimensional structure, AirNet allows the skin to breathe, preventing the formation of sweat.
It offers good comfort thanks to its soft structure.
Deformation and sagging resistant, maintaining its shape and properties over time.
Airnet is a micro-channel fiber that ensures a high degree of breathability.
MAINTENANCE
Airnet or TT does not require any maintenance.
DO NOT USE CHEMICAL DETERGENTS.
MAINTENANCE
The Airnet or TT it doesn’t need any maintenance.
DON’T USE CHEMICAL DETERGENTS.
SYMPATEX:
Used for saddle pads and saddle pads, Sympatex® is an ultra-thin, non-porous polyester membrane that is completely waterproof.
Sympatex® has a high breathability capacity. It is therefore easy to understand how it manages to maintain its properties even in situations of intense use.
Its mechanical characteristics make Sympatex® seven times more durable than other membranes. Its non-porous structure prevents dirt, sweat, grease or any other external agent from impeding its qualities, as there are no pores that could become blocked.
Resistant to abrasion, tearing and laceration.
MAINTENANCE
Sympatex does not require any maintenance.
To remove any dirt, use only a damp cloth.
DO NOT USE CHEMICAL DETERGENTS
ALUMINUM:
Our alu stirrups are made in GAlSi7 ALUMINUM ALLOY.
It is an alloy that requires a significant elastic field of mechanical response. It fully expresses its potential, proving to be one of the best performing materials in the panorama of light alloys.
PAINTING
The painting is realized by anodization process.
What is anodization? Anodization (also called anodic oxidation) is an irreversible electrochemical process by which a protective layer of aluminum oxide is formed on the surface of the treated part and protects it from corrosion.
A real surface transformation occurs in the material: the bare metal reacts with the oxygen that develops at the anode during the electrodeposition process and forms aluminum oxide or alumina.
PAINTING
painting of stirrups happens through the anodization.
The anodization (said also anodic oxidation) is an irreversible electrochemical trial through which a protective layer of aluminum oxide is formed on the surface of the particular essay and protects it from the corrosion.
In the material a real superficial transformation happens: the naked metal reacts with the oxygen that develops him to the anode during the process of electrodeposition and form aluminum oxide or alumina.
BIO THANE®:
All our Biothane® is GOLD HIFLEX, a composition of Kevlar and cotton fiber, coated with thermoplastic polyurethane.
Long-lasting, versatile and very resistant, guaranteed by the manufacturer for breaking resistance of approximately 500 kg every 3 cm. ISO 9001:2015 certification, latex-free.
It is self-extinguishing, maximum flexibility even at low temperatures, resistant to dirt and sweat, indelible colors, very high resistance to traction and wear, does not absorb water.
Resistant to mold, bacteria and odors and easily washable. Biothane® maintains its characteristics over time.
Made in America and protected by a worldwide patent.
PILE:
Used for saddlecloths, as well as for some saddle pads models. Excellent thermal insulator, trapping air and maintaining a constant temperature. Compared to the wool saddle pad, the Pile is is lighter. It is easy to wash and does not shrink.
Prevents the accumulation of humidity.
It is a synthetic fabric composed of a fiber derived from polyester. It therefore has the same origin as plastic bottles. What links bottles and Pile is precisely the material they are made of: PET.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN PILE?
The main fiber is the polyester, that can be worked in different way.
In some cases other synthetic fibers as polyamide are added, acrylic, elastane.
The Pile it is the result of a sweater particular workmanship, that is able to make the soft and voluminous fabric.
A fiber worked in this way contains a lot of air and is therefore able to be a good thermal insulator.
WASHING:
The Pile can be washed with just water, it dries fast and must not have stretched.
The Pile dries fastens than another saddle cloth The Pile he doesn’t tighten.
NEOPRENE:
Otherwise known as “scuba fabric”, neoprene (or polychloroprene) is a synthetic rubber patented by DuPont; the same material used for diving suits. It is a synthetic rubber based on polychloroprene (polymeric form of chloroprene), a subclass of synthetic rubber.
The one we use is 3mm, super soft of the highest quality, soft and anti-strain. It is very different from other similar ones, which could mislead you. The final quality of our articles made with a high quality neoprene, therefore present substantial differences from a more commercial Neoprene, such as hygroscopicity, surface friction, elasticity, resistance to crushing, recovery memory, etc.
Stitching is an operation applied to all our models without distinction; special machines and threads are used that do not pass through the material from one side to the other (non-through stitching) and do not rot.
A good girth, like a good bumper, must adhere to the horse, yes, but without pockets, folds, bulges, “centimeter” abundances but not even excessive “shrinkages”, undersized measurements and abnormal compressions.
To follow the physiological curves of the horse anatomically and identically, the material must be very elastic in all directions and of a “spatial” softness.
The tangible result that will be obtained will exceed all expectations: the performance and use will be greatly improved even for several hours.
We will therefore have a great movement freedom and free breathing, absolutely paramount for long distances.
The neoprene we use, subjected to a certain pressure, undergoes a crushing, compresses, but is always able to return to its previous shape, for a truly indispensable comfort, with every use.
NAVAL BRASS:
Naval brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, dosed so that both metals can provide the properties we need for our specific use and in the best possible way. It is not by chance that it is specified as “naval”, because its strength and high resistance to corrosion are its main prerogatives.
However, prolonged use can lead to a superficial oxidation process, which can be easily remedied with any product for cleaning brass. All the naval brass buckles we use are exclusively made in Italy.
RUBBER REINS:
Our reins are produced by the Equus Company and are easily distinguishable by the printed brand. Chosen by us for their unique characteristics of long life and maximum resistance to wear.
SEWING THREAD:
The Thread with leather is sewn, is a pure thread, exclusively made in Italy (Verona).
The thread is, before being used, sent to the tannery which draws him leaving for a week in a bath with the same liquid of leather tanning, for a week.
This treatment makes it even more strong, it prevents the natural process of undoing of the fiber of it and makes it extremely more compatible to the same leather.
WOOL:
Wool is a natural textile fiber, and has a characteristic curl that distinguishes it from all other natural fibers.
Wool is an excellent thermal insulator, since cold air is trapped between the gaps created by the curling of the fibers.
It is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs humidity and sweat.
It is not flammable, because in contact with fire it does not propagate the flame but carbonizes slowly.
Why do we use “PURE VIRGIN WOOL”?
Because it is
pure: indicates that the fabric contains 100% wool, without any other fibers.
wool: indicates the type of fiber.
virgin: indicates “new sheared wool”, that is, wool that has never been used, not regenerated, not recovered from rags.
WASH INSTRUCTION:
Wool can be washed with just water, it dries fast and must not have stretched.
Wash it by hand and not to squeeze it.
